2023-2027 Strategic planning

Hello,

Since April, the City, supported by Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton have been in the process of developing a new strategic plan for the entire organization, which accounts for the new municipal realities, particularly with regard to sustainable development and adaptation to climate change.

As part of the initiative, we would like to consult with the public through an online survey in order to clarify the analysis, which then will allow to define action priorities for the years ahead. This process will fuel and confirm the vision of the Pointe-Claire community, elected officials and City administration. Future projects, plans and actions undertaken by the City must be aligned with this analysis in order to respect the vision expressed by the community today, and to ensure a resilient future for our community and our territory.

Your participation in the survey is essential. Please note that the results of this survey are confidential. The data collected will be analyzed anonymously by the Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton team.

The deadline to respond is September 29, 2022. Please allow about ten minutes to complete it.

For any questions, feel free to contact us by e-mail at the following address: lajeunessecrevier.maude@rcgt.com

Thank you for your valuable cooperation!

Definitions of terms used in the survey

Biodiversity (and urban biodiversity): The term “biodiversity” is a contraction of “biological diversity”. Biodiversity designates the number, variety and variability of living organisms. Biodiversity supports everything we need in nature to survive: food, drinking water, shelter and medicine. Urban biodiversity refers to the variety of living organisms, including their genetic variations, and the multiplicity of habitats in and around human settlements. (Source: Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (MAMH)).

Ecological services: Benefits that ecosystems provide to us. (Source: Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MELCC)).

Wildlife (or natural) corridor: Wildlife corridors are land or water passages that “connect” areas together, in urban or non-urban environments. These corridors play a leading role in connectivity. (Source: Nature Conservancy of Canada)

Natural environment: A setting in which the landscape environment, biodiversity and the ecological processes have not been altered permanently or in the long term by human activities, which maintains its capacity to regenerate and where the human presence does not significantly alter or dominate the landscape. (Source: Environment Canada)

Resilience (territory and community): ability of a system (including the ecosystems) of a community or a society potentially exposed to hazards to adapt, by resisting or changing, in view of establishing and maintaining structures and an acceptable level of operation (Source: Morin, 2008).

Ecological transition: The ecological transition is an evolution to a new economic and social model that provides a sustainable overall solution to the major environmental issues of our century and the threats weighing over our planet. (Source: MELCC)

Energy transition: Energy transition is a profound structural change in production modes and energy consumption. This is one of the components of ecological transition. (Source: Office québécois de la langue française)

Circular economy: The circular economy is defined as a “system of production, exchange and consumption seeking to optimize the use of resources at every stage of the life cycle of goods or services, in a circular logic, while reducing the environmental footprint and contributing to the welfare of individuals and communities”. (Translated from: Pôle québécois de concertation sur l’économie circulaire).
